The fate of Bellaire's police chief has been settled, and he's retiring.
Chief Onsemio Lopez became the head of the Bellaire Police Department about five years ago after two years with the department, but fell out of favor with the city council a few months back.
The chief officer was suspended on November 24th, but reasons for the suspension have not been released because it's considered a personnel matter, rather than a criminal case.
In a Facebook post on Saturday afternoon, the department announced that Chief Lopez will step down, to be temporarily replaced by Lieutenant Shane O'Sullivan.
