Utility work cuts power in Tomball as businesses brace for losses

Holiday shopping is taking a hit in Tomball today as a planned power outage shuts down part of Main Street during peak business hours. CenterPoint Energy crews are doing major utility upgrades this morning, knocking out power and closing nearby streets while work is underway. Officials say service should be restored by mid-afternoon.

Some business owners say the timing hurts, coming during a make-or-break week for holiday sales. CenterPoint says the work can’t be delayed and is meant to prevent much longer outages during future storms or cold snaps. Drivers are also being warned to expect congestion as crews work throughout the day.
