Colin Allred's second run for a US Senate seat out of Texas is over before it begins.
Allred, who challenged Ted Cruz in 2024 and lost, had thrown his hat into the ring for the seat currently held by John Cornyn. However, with four months to go before the primary, he pulled out on the same day that another high profile Democrat is about to jump in.
"Throughout this campaign, nothing has moved me more than the personal stories and trust that so many Texans have placed in me. I am forever grateful for that trust, and I believe it comes with a heavy responsibility.
That’s why I’ve made the difficult decision to end my campaign for the U.S. Senate and continue serving my community and our state by running to represent the newly drawn Congressional District 33.
We’ll need a grassroots movement like no other to make sure we have the resources we need to beat Trump’s racist gerrymandered maps and take back the House. Visit the link in my bio to chip in today."
With Allred out, Dallas area Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is poised to jump in, a move the has been hinting at for weeks.
Crockett's announcement is scheduled for 4:30pm this afternoon.
The so-called experts think Crockett would immediately become the Democrat front runner for the nomination. As of now, State Representative James Talarico is the leading candidate. However, he has come under scrutiny in recent weeks for following adult film stars and escorts on social media.
