It might still be 2025, but it is never too early to start looking ahead to the 2028 Presidential election and primaries. After all, it will be here before we know it. In looking ahead to the Republican primaries, it appears one potential candidate is already head and shoulders above the rest.
That would be the current Vice President J.D. Vance, who according to the most recent polls, has built a towering lead in New Hampshire. That comes as no surprise, considering he is the sitting vice president, but his lead has become massive.
As it stands, Vance has 57-percent of support, compared to just nine percent for the second-best candidate, Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Political strategist Vlad Davidiuk says Americans are already looking ahead.
"They understand administrations come and go, and we always need to be looking forward to the future, and the next steps we need to take for our country," he says.
President Trump's choosing of Vance as his running mate had multiple layers, First, he helped deliver Ohio, which ultimately would not have mattered considering how big he won the election. But it helped deliver a huge swing state for Republicans not just in 2024, but potentially in 2028.
But the other part of the equation is hitching the Make America Great Again movement to a rising star in the party, keeping the hope for Americans alive when Trump leaves the White House.
"What he was telling Americans was...this is a movement that is deepening and widening across the country, and this is going to be the standard bearer to carry that torch," says Davidiuk. "This is the next step forward in continuing to make America great again."
Vance is also surging ahead because of how far the Democrat party continues to fall. Of course, Republican primaries ultimately do not have much to do with Democrats, but in a way they do. If the MAGA movement is still going strong, people are going to want to support that idea, no matter who is in the rest of the field. Who better than a servant of the agenda for four years already.
But the Democrats also play a role because they keep pushing their ridiculous agendas. It plays right into a huge Vance win potentially in 2028.
"Americans continue to reject radical Democrats and favoring reasonable Republicans who are ready to deliver prosperity and opportunity to every American," Davidiuk says.
It is never too early to look ahead. But as of now, the current vice president is running away and lapping the field. That might be a good omen for 2028, and keeping American on the right track, instead of the Democrat track to darkness.
