A 2025 Christmas Price Index Shows Minor Increases Compared to 2024

The PNC Bank’s 2025 consumer price report shows a small number of increases with no changes in most categories. Compared to 2024, Financial Strategist, Bill Dendy, says this reflects a dip in inflation.

“This is the first time in years they have done this study, that we didn’t have most things moving up, in the last 2 years we had everything moving up- dramatically, and here the only thing that’s moved up dramatically is gold. That’s partly because of the uncertainty people cling to gold.” Dendy said.

The PNC report shows the areas of increase in housing by just over 14 percent (not Texas, but on a national scale), gold by almost 33 percent, and live entertainment just over 8 percent. Categories unchanged include, blue collar worker services, such as plumbers, also the cost of frozen thanksgiving turkey and some of the essential ingredients that go with the thanksgiving feast. This year a family of 10 can feast for $5.52 a person.

“Larger birds they still have higher prices, but the frozen turkeys were less than last year. Thanksgiving dinner might even be a tad less expensive as it was last year.” Dendy said.

Compared to 2024, the report shows that most prices on goods and services reflected no change with only 3 areas of increase, and an economy with minor change and few increases is worth celebrating.
