Some Airport Delays the Norm Saturday

You may have what's left of the turkey put away, but the Thanksgiving holiday weekend continues for America's airports and their employees and travelers who are affected on Saturday by cold weather.

Houston's airports have been running a little behind, but much of it can be blamed on flight delays at other US airports, with the emphasis on Dallas Fort Worth Airport, which logged more than 100 delays on Saturday as Federal Aviation Administration officials played it cautious in scheduling takeoffs and landings Saturday as rain and possible sleet moved into the area.

Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport saw nearly as many delays as Dallas as Saturday progressed, with about 155 reported by late afternoon, but only 18 flight cancellations.

The average for Saturday was about one out of every seven flights delayed.

One of the biggest cogs in the wheel of airline mobility, the Chicago airports, partially shut down Saturday afternoon on into the evening because of runway security worries as a winter weather system dumped snow and ice on the general area, with about one out of four flights either delayed or cancelled.
