After an 8-inch hole was discovered—triggering an evacuation for nearby residents—property owners now say no leaks have been found at the Carter Lake Dam in Polk County.
The lake sits on private property, and the owners have been working with an engineer to modify the spillway and keep the water level two feet below the damaged area.
They also intend to drop the water level about four feet below its original level in order to prevent additional damage. Pumping of the lake is expected to continue for the next few days.
Residents were allowed to return home Sunday morning but have been asked to exercise caution while driving in certain areas near Dabbs Creek.
