Runoff Likely In 18th Congressional District As Local Results Shake Out

There was plenty of things happening nationally on Election night, but Houston also saw its fair share of important things on the ballot.

The biggest race locally has been for the unexpired term in Houston's 18th Congressional District, a seat formerly held by the late Sylvester Turner and the late Shelia Jackson Lee.

As of 12:45 am, Christian Menefee leads with 30-percent of the vote, while Amanda Edwards holds 26-percent of the vote. That is with 54-percent of precincts reporting. That means the race will likely head for a runoff.

Elsewhere locally, Houston City Council's At Large Position 4 looks to be in a similar situation, with Dwight Boykins getting 24-percent of the vote, while Alejandra Salinas holds 21-percent of the vote.

Votes are still being tallied as of this evening.
