How Bureaucracy, Burnout, And Bean Counters Are Driving Doctors Away

As healthcare costs continue to rise, and more and more Americans learn the truth about the healthcare industry, very quietly more and more doctors are deciding to quit practicing medicine.

It's what Dr. Brian Joondeph calls the great physician exodus.

"Doctors are basically burning out" Dr. Joondeph said, "There are pressures from so many fronts, many that I mentioned in my article including malpractice, bureaucracy, administrative burden, regulation, compliance, too many patients and not enough doctors."

As pointed out on American Thinker, Medicare physician payments have fallen 33% since 2001 after adjusting for inflation, while practice expenses have gone up 59% during the same period.

"We're getting paid less and less for what we do" Dr. Joondeph told KTRH, "We're cogs in the machine, we're being told how to practice, what we can and can't do. We saw that during Covid."

Add to that, 45% of physician's say they are now burned out.

"It's no longer fun for a lot of doctors" noted Dr. Joondeph, "What was once a calling and a profession, we're service providers."

According to the data, 5% of doctors have quit since 2019, and that's a 40% increase in just six years.

Clearly, Obamacare is not the answer. The best thing to do will be to get the government out of the healthcare business.
