The federal government shutdown is inching closer and closer to clearing the one-month mark, and voters are now making up their minds on who to blame for all of this. That's not good news for Democrats, who appear to be taking a hit here.
Recent polling suggests that the Republicans' net approval rating has risen since the shutdown began, which points to Democrats being blamed for all this. They've used the power of the Senate filibuster, which requires a supermajority of 60 votes to move a bill forward, to block Republican attempts to reopen the government now 13 different times.
GOP Congressional Candidate Kyle Sinclair, who's running in Texas's 21st District, thinks that Americans would be right to do so, and said, "This is absolutely the Democrats' fault for shutting down the government and not passing a clean resolution, which they have done for years and years."
He went on to say that this is all a result of New York Democrat and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer trying to cover his left flank to avoid a primary. He explained, "Chuck Schumer knows that his seat is vulnerable. You've got AOC, the extreme left-wing radical—he's bowing down to that side of the party."
Sinclair added that the Democrats are holding the American government hostage while they try to push more spending on Obamacare subsidies and healthcare for illegal aliens.
