Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced last week that he would be opening an investigation into the online communications platform Discord. It was reportedly used by the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson.

Discord was originally just used by online video game players for voice communication. Doctor Gavin Clarkson, an attorney and member of the Trump 1 administration, spoke about the investigation, saying, "I actually remember being on Discord with my son, who was an active video gamer."

He says that since its inception, Discord has, like so many other social media platforms, become a hotbed for radical political ideology. He explained, "Social media can be an absolute toxic cesspool of violence and hatred and radicalization."

Dr. Clarkson says that the fact that a rather mundane platform like Discord appears to have earned an investigation from the Texas Attorney General due to the radicals using it is a clear sign that parents need to be critically aware of what their kids are doing online.

He said, "There are sometimes when parents don't even know what's going on. Sometimes this radicalization is happening in the background, and they're not aware of it. If we can stop this radicalization from happening, that would be a good thing."
