7th Time Not The Charm, The Schumer Shutdown Continues

As expected, another attempt by Senate Republicans to re-open the government has failed, after the Senate Democrats blocked Republicans’ plan to reopen the government again, which means that the government shutdown will continue after a 7th failed attempt.

Lawmakers have until Oct. 13, the deadline to process payments for the military’s payroll, to fund the government, or service members will miss their first paycheck. Senate staff members are soon after, with their next expected payday coming Oct. 20.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune R-S.D, told Fox News Digital, ""They have taken hostage the federal government and, by extension, the American people, who are the only losers in this," Thune said. "Everybody's talking about who wins and who loses and who gets the blame. That's not what this is about. This is about doing what's in the best interest of the American people. And what's in the best interest of the American people is keeping the government open and operating so it can continue to work on their behalf."

The Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., are demanding that they get to negotiate a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR), and extending the Obamacare tax credits. They are also viewing this as another way to fight Trump.
