A police chase that began on the mainland in Galveston County has led to an officer-involved shooting at Sea Wolf Park on Pelican Island.
Police had originally stopped the suspect in Hitchcock for a traffic violation, but he then led officers on a high-speed chase through the county.
The suspect crashed his car into the entrance of Sea Wolf Park before stepping out and firing at deputies.
After briefly appearing to comply with the officers who were attempting to convince him to surrender, he again aimed his gun at the officers, who fired multiple shots, killing him.
The Texas Rangers are now investigating the incident, which is standard procedure in Galveston County.
