Fort Bend County Is The Latest To Join Redistricting Fight In Texas

The battle over redistricting maps here in Texas is not just happening on the national congressional level. Fort Bend County and Galveston County are the latest to join the statewide fight.

Fort Bend County Commissioner's are going to receive a new set of redrawn maps next week.

"One of the keys is, why are we doing this?" said Dr. Bobby Eberle, chairman of the Fort Bend County Republican Party, "In 2021, the Democrats without a public hearing or any kind of transparency, put out a map to make the balance of Commissioner's Court 3-1 Democrat."

Basically, the time has come to make that wrong from 2021, right.

"Every single thing they did in 2021 was done in secret, and it was done to subvert the will of the county, which is 50-50" Eberle told KTRH.

Fort Bend County and Galveston County, along with others across the state are part of an awakening, or shift across the state, to bring fair representation to voters.

"What you see us doing is actually fighting back, saying no this is not fair and standing up to them" noted Eberle, "Now, across the state Republicans are actually standing up, they're fighting back, and the American people and Fort Bend County residents, they support it."

The Fort Bend County Commissioners are set to meet and receive the new maps next Thursday.
