After Years Of Misguided Priorities, There's A Call For NASA To Refocus

Hoping to make -NASA- great again, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in an Op-ed for Fox News that NASA is at a crossroads. The good news is, President Trump wants to refocus, explore more, and beat China.

"NASA's got all this stuff that it does, but the core soul, the thing that drives it seems to be lacking" said space expert Keith Cowing, editor at NASA Watch.

According to Duffy's article, Trump is planning two key initiatives: To establish a permanent moon presence, and maintain U.S. orbit leadership.

The latter is in response to China's plans to build a lunar base.

"They have a clear goal in mind" Cowing told KTRH, "They have watched how Russia, and Japan, and Europe, and America have done things, and they've picked the best stuff and they've learned from that."

And as for the refocus, Duffy says, "NASA must be leaner, smarter and more mission-focused. Bloated bureaucracy, inefficiencies in contract procurement and a culture of overcaution have consistently grounded NASA missions. Projects like the Space Launch System and Mars Sample Return have consumed massive resources with repeated delays."

Now, the mission is crystal clear, make NASA great again. Like it should be.

"We already are great in space, we have been for more than half a century" noted Cowing.

NASA was founded in 1958, and as Duffy points out, it has stood as a symbol of American ingenuity and ambition.
