Houston area Democrat Congressman Al Green, one of the targets in the state's redistricting effort, won't run for the redrawn Ninth District. But that doesn't mean he's going away.
Green on Tuesday confirmed that he could run for the seat left vacant by the death this year of Sylvester Turner. It's a seat that several Democrats are running for in November, including Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee.
During a news conference Tuesday, Green ranted against the GOP redistricting plans, but said he lives in what would be the 18th District, which is why he is considering a run. But he also said he wouldn't make a decision until November.
Green and Dallas area Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett also filed suit on Tuesday against the new map.
