Back when the FBI raided the Mar-A-Lago home of now President Donald Trump, in some frivolous search for classified documents, the left did nothing but cheer the move. "No one is above the law," they applauded, as the feds went on a wild goose chase to try and prosecute Trump. Fast forward a few years, and we have the FBI raiding the home of former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton for possessing classified documents, which has somehow infuriated Democrats.
Mostly they are upset because Bolton has been very critical of Trump, to put it lightly. They now believe somehow this is targeted because Bolton spoke out against Trump. Completely ignoring the ridiculous cases the Biden DOJ launched against Trump, in the middle of his presidential run. It is the ultimate scenario of the pot calling the kettle black.
Brianna Lyman of the Federalist says they have gone full hypocrite, driving the 'Trump is a dictator' narrative once again.
"They immediately jump to calling the raid retribution and political persecution...they do not believe no one is above the law...they believe some are, but others like Donald Trump are not above the law," she says.
It is another perfect example of the two-tiered justice ideology that Democrats support. Anyone who does not agree with them is some kind of fascist and deserves prosecution. But anyone who agrees with them is just 'doing their job' and unworthy of investigation. It is truly an amazing bit of hypocrisy. Almost humorous, verging more on pathetic.
This reversion back to the 'Trump is a dictator' narrative is just another usual play from the Democrat playbook. But this time it is less about them being upset, and more about them being fearful.
"The media is desperately trying to revive the narrative because they are worried about the midterms and 2028, and they want people to be scared of Republicans," says Lyman. "So, this is an opportunity for them to try and pound that drum...but I do not think people are listening."
The only ones buying the narrative anymore are the staunchest supporters of the progressive movement. Usually blue-haired 22-year-olds who have more piercings than they have original thoughts.
It is a narrative though that people are fed up with hearing and showed such during the 2024 election. As we have said before, you think the Democrats would learn this is a losing approach. But they do not, and they will suffer because of it.
"You can drop the words all you want...but if you do not drop the underlying policies that are alienating voters, then you will continue to lose voters," Lyman says.
It is another wonderful example of the hypocrisy we have come to see from the Democrat party. More of it is sure to come along the way, as the party continues becoming more unhinged.
