Are Quorum Breaking Democrats Going To Get Away With It?

Members of the conservative grassroots have been wondering for weeks about whether or not the Democrats who broke quorum to protest Texas redistricting would actually face severe consequences for it. They might finally have an answer, but not one they'll like.

It's looking like, aside from the relatively minor fines imposed on them by the Speaker, Democrats won't actually be facing any major consequences like removal from committees or losing their positions as subcommittee chairs or committee vice chairs.

That's thanks to the House Republican Caucus, which failed to pass a resolution backing those punishments. Kyle Sinclair with the Bexar County GOP spoke out about this, saying, "Behavior not addressed is accepted. We had 44 Republicans who supported this; I want to know who those are, and we had the rest who were not. I want to know who those are."

He went on to say that it's critical that quorum breakers not be allowed to get away with blocking the legislative process for weeks, saying, "Not doing a duly elected responsibility and a dereliction of duty, I think you need to have harsh consequences for this type of behavior."

Sinclair went on to warn that a failure to punish the Democrats could wind up hurting Republicans.
