Even with a budget deficit of close to $300 million, more Harris County Democrat spending has been exposed.
It's courtesy of longtime investigative reporter Wayne Dolcefino, and his team over at Dolcefino Media. They've reported on what they call the 'Briones Bonus'.
With the on-going fight to give local law enforcement a long overdue pay raise, giving bonuses to staff members would not be a good look, and it is also illegal in the state of Texas.
"They decided to call the bonuses something else, so they can get away with it" Dolcefino said, noting that Briones called it a "retention incentive."
"It's a bonus" Dolcefino said, "She was talking about paying bonuses to her own employees, and wait until you find out how big the bonuses were."
How about $1.2 million handed out 250 employees, including a $20K bonus for Briones' chief of staff, Alice Lee.
Add to that all of the wasteful spending from Judge Lina Hidalgo, it's no wonder Harris County is so far in the red. Or actually blue.
So while it may not be a good time to be a hard-working, law abiding, tax paying citizen of Harris County, if you are a Democrat, and a Democrat employee, life is good in the neighborhood!
