Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that the legislature could pass redistricting by the end of the week, and it looks like he's probably right.

The Senate is prepared to act quickly after a committee passed the new Congressional maps along party lines on Thursday. If the Senate follows through, the bill will go to the Governor's desk, potentially giving Republicans another five seats in the US House.

The move also comes a day after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation to create new congressional maps designed by the Democrat-dominated legislature to eliminate half of the state’s Republican-held seats. Newsom has said the move is retaliation for what's happening here in Texas.

The Senate is back in session at 10am Friday.
