Even though it's currently polling as a 90/10 issue, Democrats and the left continue to cry out over president Donald Trump taking over the law enforcement in Washington D.C.
But what is really going on? And what is the real reason for their opposition?
"I think in many ways, it is an issue of balance of power. I think they would rather play games with political power enhancement, they're also playing a racial card here" said John Grondelski, a former state department foreign officer, who wrote about it for American Thinker.
It's a power play, with the left also looking at the long game.
"They would like to make D.C. something called 'new Columbia' with Senators and Congressman" Grondelski told KTRH, "They are looking for ways to at least gain a few seats in the House of Representatives next year, in the hope of splitting the government and stopping Congress from being able to enact any part of the president's agenda."
It's something they've been wanting to get done for decades, but for now, it's just another opportunity to attack Trump.
"They would like obviously to hijack the media narrative in order to present the president in the worst possible light" noted Grondelski, who worked in the State Department under Senator Ted Cruz.
