Prosecutors Accuse K.P. George Of Using Campaign Funds To Buy A Home

Attorneys for embattled Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George have filed a motion to quash the charges, saying that the indictment fails to "allege the essential elements of the offense."

George is accused of using his campaign account to launder money, but according to his defense, nothing George is accused of qualifies as money laundering.

The Fort Bend County District Attorney disagrees and has filed a response to the motion to quash that accuses George of using his campaign funds to cover property taxes and a down payment on a home.

George's attorney Jared Woodfill told KTRH that this is all politically motivated, saying, "Everybody knows when you charge someone with money laundering, that's going to get the headlines."

He claims this was all done in an attempt to turn voters against K.P. George and get him removed from office.
