The lockdown at Fort Stewart, near Savannah Georgia, has been partially lifted, following an active shooter incident earlier this morning.
The official Fort Stewart Facebook page posted a message saying, "Fort Stewart is in a lockdown status due to an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. The installation was locked down at 11:04 a.m. and law enforcement is on the scene at the time."
As of 11:43am Central Time, a second update had been posted on the Fort Stewart Facebook page, which indicated that 5 soldiers had been shot during the incident, and where treated on site before being transferred to the Winn Army Community Hospital.
The shooter has also been apprehended, and is no longer a threat to the community according to the statement.
