The Houston branch of the FBI, alongside the Department of Homeland Security and ICE, is creating a new task force that is set to target criminal illegal aliens, including cartels, that have set up shop across the Houston area.
Even before the Biden border crisis, Houston had become a hotbed for crimes ranging from simple illegal immigration to both cartel- and non-cartel-related trafficking of anything from people to guns to drugs. Those problems have only gotten worse over the last four years.
Now that border enforcement has resumed, this new task force can assist with the surging enforcement across the area. Breitbart's Bob Price told KTRH that this could be the key to the "whole government approach" that the Trump administration has pushed when it comes to border enforcement.
He pointed out that ICE has already cracked down on thousands of criminal illegal aliens inside the city, saying, "Last month, ICE officers arrested 1,361 criminal aliens. There were another 1,200 or so arrested the month before."
Price says this will allow the federal government to double down on those efforts. "It allows them to coordinate their research efforts and authority to seize assets. It brings in a lot more power and a lot more bounty." He says even agencies like the IRS could get involved in the effort.
With cartels ranging from MS-13 to Cartel Jalisco attempting to use Houston's proximity to the border and national highway access to spread their influence across the country, this is a much-needed development.
