An armed man is dead, shot and killed after leading law enforcement on a chase through Galveston County.
It began on Wednesday morning, when deputies with the Harris County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office attempted to stop a man driving a stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 45 at Belfort Road.
Deputies said a Pct. 8 Deputy Constable tried to deploy spike strips during the chase, but the suspect took out a gun and started shooting. Deputies returned fire while chasing the suspect into Galveston County, where he crashed in the 5400 block of Broadway in Galveston.
The suspect then exited the vehicle and started shooting at deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking and killing the suspect.
No law enforcement or civilians were injured.
