What Is HPD Doing To Make Sure Anti-ICE Protests Don't Turn Violent?

In addition to the ongoing anti-ICE protests, several 'No King's' protests are scheduled for Saturday here in Houston.

The big question is, how does local enforcement ensure that what happened in Los Angeles, doesn't happen here?

"We've made sure we're prepared from the beginning" said Doug Griffith, president of the Houston Police Officers Union, "If they see an overwhelming number of an officers out there, then we're set to go. We're not concerned at all."

The bottom line is, they will be ready.

"Understand, we prepare for this, we are ready for anything that should happen" Griffith told KTRH, "So, anybody that wants to come out there and act a fool, understand you will be dealt with quickly and harshly."

He adds that all of the local law enforcement agencies will be working together.

We also reached out to the Mayor's office, but they did not respond to our request.
