Demonstrators protesting against actions by US Immigration Customs Enforcement walked through a portion of Houston on Sunday, some chanting "si se puerde," or "yes it can be done" in Spanish.
The chant was a favorite for Democrats in protests in 2006 and 2007 in the leadup to the 2008 presidential contest that led to the election of President Barack Obama.
The Sunday Houston protesters carried mostly hand-drawn signs calling for another impeachment of President Donald Trump, "No human is illegal on stolen land," while others carried the national flag of Mexico.
There was a similar protest in San Antonio starting on Sunday morning, with attendance said to be about three times the turnout in Houston.
None of the Texas protests reached levels of violence or police confrontations seen in weekend riots in Los Angeles, California.
