Two Houston Police Department officers were hurt on their way to a crime scene when their vehicle was smashed by a hit-and-run driver very early Sunday morning.
The accident is believed to have caused the police cruiser to catch fire, but a bystander, a wrecker driver, is said to have helped the officers out of the burning car.
The two police officers were taken to a hospital where they're said to be recovering.
They had been called to the scene of a stabbing in the 7300 block of Bigwood Drive on Houston's north side near Tidwell at Homestead, where a 30-year-old man is said to have been killed, with his 50-year-old stepfather IS now being held as a suspect.
A police report indicated the two men had been arguing, which led to a fight that ended in the stabbing.
The stepfather is in jail awaiting an arraignment.
