More Questions Raised About The Future Of Harris Couty Judge Lina Hidalgo

According to a new report, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has allowed her campaign funds to get low, fueling speculation about her future.

There have been multiple rumors for months, that Hidalgo is not going to run again in 2026.

"Sources have indicated she may be considering a run for another office, in fact perhaps a run for Congress at some future date" said Holly Hansen, reporter at The Texan.

The last several months have not been good for Hidalgo, who continues to deal with acknowledged mental health issues, while facing strong criticism for not supporting pay raises for law enforcement, while asking for tax dollars to pay for an $11,000 trip to Paris.

"She does seem to have lost some momentum on the Harris County Commissioners Court" Hansen told KTRH, "And we see sometimes fellow Democrats Adrian Garcia and Lesley Briones, more frequently voting against her. And even on a few occasions she has not been supported by Commissioner Rodney Ellis."

As for who the Dems might decide to run, if Hidalgo doesn't run for re-election?

"Rodney Ellis still has a lot of sway" noted Hansen, "He has some candidates that he has groomed, Christian Menefee comes to mind, as does Chris Hollins."

Meanwhile, Piney Point Mayor Aliza Dutt has already announced that she is running for the GOP.
