More violent crime across Houston on Thursday evening. One driver is dead, and a suspect is on the run, after a fatal shooting during an attempted carjacking in Southwest Houston.
Police say that happened on the feeder of the Southwest Freeway near Bellfort. A crash in the intersection between two vehicles resulted in one of the drivers running to the other car. That man then tried carjacking the person's vehicle when they shot the driver multiple times. The driver managed to drive off under the freeway but eventually hit a pole. He later died at the hospital from gunshot wounds.
The would-be carjacker then stole another car and fled the scene. The driver of the other car was uninjured.
The suspect has yet to be apprehended and was last seen in a stolen gray Audi. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who was driving a Dodge Charger. Anyone with information is urged to contact Houston Police.
