A small plane disappeared in flight Saturday afternoon in Chambers County, east of Houston, piloted by a man who also had his grandson on board, according to officials.
After a search that lasted many hours and included the Coast Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety and state game wardens, the wreckage of the plane was finally located on Sunday in a remote wooded spot near FM 1724.
When rescuers arrived at the site, not far from I-10 between the cities of Wallisville and Winnie, no survivors were found among the plane debris.
The Federal Aviation Administration has said it will join the National Transportation Safety Board to conduct the primary investigation to find the cause of the crash.
