Mayors Race Headed To A Runoff

After what might have been one of the lowest turnout years for a San Antonio municipal election, it looks like the top two candidates will be heading for a June 7 runoff race.

Gina Ortiz Jones, the former U.S. Air Force undersecretary under former President Joe Biden, and Rolando Pablos, the former Secretary of State of Texas, managed to secure the top two positions among 27 candidates and qualify for the runoff.

There will also be a runoff for City Council District 1. Sukh Kaur is the only council incumbent who was not reelected outright. She’ll face challenger Patty Gibbons on June 7.

In District 6, Kelly Ann Gonzalez and Ric Galvan will go head-to-head in a runoff, as will Ivalis Meza Gonzalez and Paula McGee in District 8, and Misty Spears and Angi Taylor Aramburu in District 9.
