MAGA-Mentum: Trump Support Rises Despite Media Attacks

Despite the best efforts of the left and much of the legacy media, the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement behind President Donald Trump is not only thriving, but expanding. A new poll from NBC News finds support for MAGA among all Americans and especially Republicans has surged since Trump's return to office. The survey finds among all Americans, the number who identify with the MAGA movement is now at 36%, up from 23% last year. Among Republicans, support for MAGA is 71%, up from 40% a year ago.

These numbers are even more surprising considering the relentless attacks on Trump from the legacy news media, especially on the issue of tariffs. But former Texas GOP Chair Steve Munisteri says this is actually consistent with Trump's performance since he first emerged as a candidate ten years ago. "President Trump has a history of starting out with a base of support and then building upon it," says Munisteri. "That's what happened when he first ran for president, during his first term, and again when he ran again last year."

"At the end of the process, (Trump) always seems to end up with more support than the beginning," he continues. "And I think the single most important reason for that is people see he's that rare politician that when he gets into office, he does exactly what he said he would do when he campaigned."

Trump's steady and growing support also shows that, similar to President Ronald Reagan, the public is no longer moved by the media's narrative. "Reagan had to run three times before he was finally elected," says Munisteri. "But then Republicans and the public fully embraced him."

Ultimately, Munisteri believes the growth of MAGA is about results. "Republicans generally have a pattern of rewarding elected officials that actually put the party's platform in effect, and they like a fighter," he tells KTRH. "That's why Reagan won, and that's the reason why President Trump is very popular among Republicans."
