An early Saturday morning Houston police raid on a north side "after hours club" ended in a dozen people going to jail.
It started with a short plainclothes watch, in which officers in street clothing entered the club in the unmarked strip center business along West Gulfbank, and were served alcohol even though it was after 2 am, when alcohol sales are to cease under state law.
Then regular officers raided the club, serving a search warrant.
They eventually arrested the owner, two managers, four bartenders and a couple of security guards.
Police also say there were four people who were customers but were found to have outstanding arrest warrants; they were arrested too.
It's part of a recently-announced crackdown on after-hours and other unlicensed bars, where officials have been saying that violence proliferates, and so do shootings and even murder.
