The Border Crisis Is Over, But The Work Isn't Done

Thanks to President Trump’s massive border security reforms and strong messaging, it seems like in just a few months, he’s managing to finally end Joe Biden’s four-year-long border crisis. So can we finally put this behind us and forget about it?

Not exactly. While we’ve managed to stop illegal aliens from pouring into the country, we need to continue working to make sure that the border is more secure than ever and stays that way.

Thaddeus Cleveland, Sheriff of Terrell County, which is part of the Big Bend border section, says while he agrees that the border crisis is over, that doesn’t mean we can slow down. He said, "Border security is not over. We still have a border that is porous in locations and will still need infrastructure such as roads, barriers, lighting, and technology."

He thinks that we should take what we’ve learned over the last four years and continue building off it to prevent a second border crisis. He said, "Hopefully during the Trump administration we can finish the border wall, add more technology in places like the Big Bend section, and of course, hire more Border Patrol agents."

Cleveland pointed out that America’s enemies aren’t going to take their foot off the gas, and we shouldn’t either. He said, "The cartels aren’t gonna just give up. And they see what the U.S. is doing, and they’re gonna shift their operations. But Border Patrol has the ability to ‘lift and shift.’ If we start seeing a large amount of activity out this way, Border Patrol will send additional resources."

He hopes that after four years of the border crisis under Biden, Americans finally understand how critical it is to keep the U.S. border secure, and because of that they’ll never vote for open-border politicians ever again.
