Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, said he plans to file articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump within the next 30 days.
Rep. Green told protesters at the "Hands Off!" rally in Washington, D.C., that Trump "does not deserve the office." He also compared himself to David and Trump to Goliath.
"I understand that he is a Goliath," Green said. "But my friends, for every Goliath, there is a David. And I want you to know, Mr. President, this David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days."
Green has already said he would bring articles of impeachment against Trump after the president suggested in February that the United States take control of the Gaza Strip. He also led several unsuccessful efforts to impeach Trump during his first term in the White House.
"I'm coming for you. Mr. President, this David is coming for you," Green added. "You can't be entrusted with liberty and justice for all. You can't be entrusted with government of the people by the people for the people."
Tens of thousands of people attended the protest in D.C. People were protesting against the Trump administration, Elon Musk, DOGE and countless other issues. Some protestors believe President Trump is going to make cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
"President Trump's position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries," said assistant press secretary Liz Huston. "Meanwhile, the Democrats' stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors."
Rep. Green was formally censured by the House for interrupting Trump's Feb. 4 joint address to Congress. The House adopted the censure resolution with a 224-198-2 vote in March.
