With many reflecting on the 5-year anniversary of Covid, there is one thing that our nation has still not recovered. That one thing is trust, or more specifically trust in our government.
"Covid taught us that we shouldn't trust everything that the media or the government was telling us to do" said Elle Purnell, elections editor at The Federalist, "That we shouldn't go along with lockdowns just because Dr. Fauci said."
The big question now is, how long is it going to take to rebuild that trust?
"That's a great question" Purnell told KTRH, "I don't know, but hopefully that led people to stop putting their trust in government, and put it ultimately in God, and in the people He's placed around them."
She notes that it also taught people how to take care of themselves, and to see what has really been happening in Washington.
"It's not that our government wasn't corrupt before Covid, but it really showed us what our government was willing to do, and what lengths they were willing to go to. And I think it horrified a lot of Americans."
Hopefully that will begin to turn around under president Trump.
