According to new polling, the favorability of the Democratic Party is plunging to record lows, and with the midterms fast approaching, this creates a big opportunity for Republicans to gain ground.

According to a CNN SSRS poll, just 29% of people have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party. So how can Republicans capitalize on this to win big in the 2026 midterms? Well, it's actually pretty simple.

According to GOP Strategist Chris Johnson, they just need to deliver on their campaign promises. He said, "We're gonna do energy dominance, we're gonna stick it to China, and we're gonna hold other countries accountable when they undercut us on trade, and we've got to do it sooner rather than later."

He added that Democratic inability to develop cohesive messaging, and the fact that they can't come together around popular issues, is also hurting them. He said, "Democrats failed to define themselves as anything other than the opposition party to Donald Trump; that's where they're really struggling to gain support among the general public."

Johnson says this makes the job of the GOP easy because they can focus on delivering their agenda rather than on attacking Democrats. He said, "We just don't really need to beat them over the head too much. And we can spend so much time creating a positive vision for what we're about. So there's a great opportunity for us."

He did warn that the GOP needs to work quickly here in order to make sure that they don't miss this rare opportunity.
