Two Injured At Katy Area Restaurant

Two people were hospitalized after a fight broke out at a fast food restaurant in the Katy area on Sunday.

It was a gathering of two groups, according to the Harris County Sheriff, at a McDonald's in the 6100 block of Fry Road, near West Little York.

What some thought was a simple gathering of teenagers turned into mayhem when suddenly shots were fired both inside and outside the restaurant.

A 61-year-old man, believed to have been an innocent bystander, was hit multiple times by bullets, and a 25-year-old man was also wounded.

Of the two who were injured, the older man was taken by LifeFlight to a hospital where he's reported to have undergone surgery; the other was taken by ambulance to a different hospital.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the two groups got into a fight, but investigators have been trying to find the cause.

About seven men and women arrived at the restaurant at 5:25 pm and appeared ready to order food when a group of several men arrived and a quarrel between the two groups ensued.

Sheriff's Department Lt. Dennis Wolfford later said all of them appeared to be between the ages of 16 and 20.
