In the aftermath of president Donald Trump's well received 'joint session' speech, many conservatives across the country are calling on congress not to drop the ball.
"Right now they need to get this continuing resolution passed, so that the government doesn't stall" said Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow with the Heritage Foundation.
Unfortunately, Democrats want the government to shut down not because they care about the American people, but because they believe it will hurt Trump's popularity and momentum.
The big question now is, can Republicans get a clean C-R passed by Friday?
"I'm pretty confident Republicans can get this done by Friday" Spakovsky told KTRH, "There's no increase in spending, and this is a way of making sure that the people who are trying to cut out wasteful spending will continue to be able to do their jobs."
Hose Speaker Mike Johnson says there will be a vote this week.
