Colony Ridge is once again in hot water. Their sales tactics are under fire now after a Project Veritas journalist exposed how they go about confirming the identity of the people to whom they sell land.
According to one employee who spoke with an undercover Project Veritas journalist, all you need is two forms of ID, but they don't have to be American. She said, "It can be a Mexican passport, but we need two." She went on to say that all you would need is a Mexican passport along with a Mexican driver's license, and you're good to go.
The issue with that is, while American identification documents have significant authenticating measures built into them, documents from countries like Mexico, Venezuela, and Guatemala are usually far less elaborate.
Former U.S. Marshall Robert Almonte says we already know that illegal aliens have taken advantage of that fact. He said, "Our country, the United States, is flooded with false documents, identification, that is in the possession of undocumented migrants."
Almonte went on to say that, "ICE and Border Patrol are trained to spot these fake documents. Other law enforcement officers, sheriff's deputies and police officers, are not trained to do that."
He says these sales practices could encourage criminals to come to Colony Ridge with fake documents, and buy land.
