Democrats' growing rage and hostility toward Donald Trump and Elon Musk is taking on ever more bizarre tones by the day. In recent days, Dems have tried to storm government buildings, yelled obscenities, and made up awkward songs and chants as they rallied outside random buildings. The latest phase of their rage is directed at Musk's electric car company, Tesla. Left-wing groups are protesting outside Tesla dealerships and calling for boycotts, while singer Sheryl Crow is bragging about getting rid of her Tesla. Even Tesla fan club members in Canada are using bumper stickers to disavow Musk.
Call it Elon Derangement Syndrome. Musk is overseeing the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is charged with rooting out and eliminating waste and fraud in the federal government. Some would consider that a noble cause, but the left is apoplectic about it. "(Musk) is exposing the bank robber to the people, and for some odd reason people are mad about it," says Anthony Russo, political analyst and host. "They're so incredibly mad about a man who most of these people loved two years ago because he was this beacon of green energy."
"It's a complete, mass psychosis."
As for Crow ditching her Tesla, Russo calls that completely tone deaf. "Can you imagine being so privileged that you can just donate your Tesla---your very expensive, 40, 50, 70, 80-thousand dollar vehicle---and think that you speak to the common man? I think that's hilarious."
In the meantime, Musk doesn't seem bothered by all the hate, as he continues to push forward with DOGE while maintaining a sense of humor on social media. "Thank God Elon is taking the brunt of this," says Russo. "I think he and Trump are the only people who can take this kind of hatred and scrutiny."
