Tulsi Gabbard has officially been confirmed as the Director of National Intelligence. She's the 14th Cabinet official to be confirmed by the Senate, following a 52-48 vote.

Notably, former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) broke with his fellow Republicans and voted NO on Gabbard's nomination.

Gabbard, a former Democratic member of the House and Democratic presidential candidate, faced quite a bit of resistance from Senate Democrats. One such Democrat was Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, who said on the Senate floor, "We need leaders in the Intelligence Community and throughout government who are prepared to stand up to short-sighted attempts to attack our workforce at the expense of our national security."

SECDEF Pete Hegseth congratulated Gabbard on her confirmation with a post on X, where he said, "Tulsi is a fearless patriot who will ensure the Office of Director of National Intelligence & our entire IC work FOR the American people. Cannot wait to work with her."
