Democrats here in Harris County continue to target Trump. They have given County Attorney Christian Menefee new authority to sue the Trump administration for the next six months. Menefee can now file new lawsuits or join existing ones without approval from Commissioners Court.
Gary Polland, an attorney and publisher of the Texas Conservative Review, says that local Democrats should focus on their local responsibilities, not the Trump Administration. He told KTRH, "They were elected to take care of infrastructure, law enforcement, and roads and bridges."
But Democrats aren't just doing this to showboat. According to Polland, this is an effort to distract their voters from the issues facing county residents. Polland says, "For them, it is easier to join the resistance, try to make everything a national issue, and hope that the citizens of Harris County are ignoring the neglect they're suffering."
He says county leaders need to simply get back to the basics, which means, "We're not joining the lawsuits, the Democratic efforts to distract, and stop President Trump from following his mandate."
The icing on the cake here is the fact that all of the money that winds up getting spent on these lawsuits is money that won't be spent on things like road repair and flood control.
