A couple of teenagers are facing charges after a confrontation with Houston police officers on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called about 1 pm to an apartment complex along Park Place near Galveston Road by someone reporting a suspicious-looking person carrying a weapon.
Arriving at the complex, officers accompanied by an apartment manager found a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl in a vacant apartment
An HPD spokesman said the 17-year-old was armed and met police at the door of the apartment.
After officers backed off to safety, the teenagers attempted to flee by breaking out a window, after which the boy started shooting at officers.
That's when officers fired back, hitting the 17-year-old, who was then taken to a hospital.
The girl was also taken to a hospital for cuts suffered when they jumped out the smashed window.
A spokesman said police weren't sure whether the girl had a gun.
There's been no word on the condition of the boy.
Trespassing charges are being filed against both of them.
None of the officers were injured.
As usual in a shooting where police are involved, at least one of the officers will be temporarily reassigned to desk duty while investigators complete a report and examine police bodycam video for details of the incident.
