Abbott: Texas 'Undisputed Jobs Leader'

Texas added more jobs last year than any other state, making it the "undisputed jobs leader" in the United States, Governor Greg Abbott said on Tuesday.

Not only that, but 2024 was the third year in a row that the state has seen not only record highs in the number of jobs, but also in the number of residents at work and in the size of its labor force.

Figures from the federal labor office show that from December 2023 to December 2024, Texas gained 284,200 nonfarm jobs, substantially more than all other states.

“Texas offers businesses the freedom to succeed and hardworking Texans the tools to prosper," the Governor said in announcing the results of US Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys.

"As a result, more Texans are working than ever before in the history of our great state. By unleashing the power of entrepreneurs and innovators and investing in education excellence and career training, we will remain the national leader in job creation and fuel America’s jobs engine," Mr. Abbott said.

He said now that the state House and Senate are back in session, work begins to help make it four years in a row of leading the nation in job growth.

"Working with the Texas Legislature this session, we will continue this blueprint for our future and build an even stronger Texas for all," he added.
