The Department of Justice has dropped the charges against Dr. Eithan Haim, the whistleblower who exposed Texas Children's Hospital's "Gender-Affirming-Care" clinic. This was just one of many instances of politically motivated lawfare that we saw from the DOJ under former President Joe Biden.
Houston-based Doctor Mary Tally Bowden, who also faced repercussions for her stance on vaccine mandates, said that political prosecutions are what the Biden DOJ will be remembered for. She stated, "That is what happened during the Biden Administration. They were basically just weaponizing the legal system against those who spoke out."
Dr. Haim's allegations that Texas Children's Hospital was providing transgender medicine and operations to children were published last year, and Haim was charged by the DOJ shortly after.
Though the charges have been dropped following Trump's inauguration as the 47th President, with the case being dismissed "with prejudice," Dr. Bowden says the damage has already been done. She said that in cases like this, "They publicly shame you, they drag your name through the mud, they publicize it and defame you, and try to take you down in any way that they can."
Essentially, according to Bowden, the real punishment here is the process itself, because, according to Bowden, it's a "cloud of stress that hangs over you." She also pointed out the immense cost of fighting these legal battles.
Dr. Bowden was, however, hopeful that during Trump's second term, enough reforms will be made at the DOJ to prevent these political prosecutions from ever happening again.
