The Clock Is Ticking, As TikTok Ban Is Set To Be Decided By Supreme Court

All eyes are once again on the U.S. Supreme Court, which is set to rule on the fate of the TikTok social media app after hearing oral arguments last week. The high court will rule on the law that will ban TikTok here in the U.S. starting next week.

"The law requires TikTok to have new ownership by January 19th, or be shut down" said attorney James Hirsman, who is also a columnist for Newsmax. "I think the Supreme Court is likely to side with the law but, the wild card is that Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to delay implementation."

President-elect Trump was at one time in favor of a ban on TikTok, but has since had a change of heart and has vowed to keep it running, hoping to mediate a deal with a buyer here in the U.S. to eliminate China's control and influence, and data stealing.

"There's a bonified offer by a group for $20 billion dollars" Hirsman told KTRH, "I think it's very likely that president Trump is going to broker a deal with that group, and it won't be shut down."

We shall see, as the wait for the U.S. Supreme Court continues. The TikTok ban is set to go into effect on January 19th.
