A longtime teacher has been fired by the Klein school district after claims that he was found to have been viewing inappropriate material in a classroom.
The 81-year-old teacher was working as a substitute on Friday at Klein Oak High School when students told school administrators that he was intentionally showing a video of people in what the district called "deviant sexual behavior," a claim that included "viewing inappropriate material on a personal device," according to court documents.
Klein ISD said records show the teacher has been certified to teach since 1966.
Displaying certain inappropriate material to a minor is a class A misdemeanor that could result in the substitute teacher getting a year in jail.
The man was arrested and was released on $100 bond.
He has been fired by the district and will be ineligible for re-hiring.
