A large cold front is moving across the country and will bring a jolt of winter weather into Texas this week.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 40’s Sunday evening and the 30’s by Monday morning. The incoming air mass will be dry and cold with dewpoints falling into the 10’s and 20’s over much of the area on Monday and Tuesday.
According to Harris County Meteorologist Jeff Lindner, the threat of severe weather in the greater Houston area is rather low and appears to be focused more to the east and northeast of the local area.
A tornado watch has also been issued by the National Weather Service for much of southeast Texas. Seven counties are included in the watch: Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker.
ERCOT and CenterPoint Energy both say they are prepared for worst case scenario.
